Beatrix Potter 3Say “Hello” to Beatrix Potter, one of the best known and most beloved authors of books for children. My own childhood was enriched by her stories, and my conversations then were “peopled” by Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle. Their stories were and ARE wonderful! We should be sharing them with our children and grandchildren today… and yet, many children have never heard of them!
Ms. Potter and I share a birthday… July 28… although I must confess to being much younger than she! Beatrix Potter was born in 1866 in Kensington, London (and I was born much, much later… in Titusville, PA!).

With her older brother away at school, Beatrix Potter was raised very much as an only child. It may have been a sense of social isolation which encouraged her skills at illustration. And I’m sure that having both parents artistically gifted contributed, as well.

You can find some of Ms. Potter’s books for children as Classic Storybook Videos at our web site’s library. These books differ from conventional ebooks in very important ways. Where typical ebooks contain text and sometimes illustrations, Classic Storybook Videos combine text, original illustrations and add a critical element… narration!

And you will NEVER find animation in our library! Look around you and notice the ways many children spend hours of their days. You will discover for yourself that animation is not a friend to creativity.

A child’s imagination needs the encouragement to work for itself, and not have everything done for them thru animation.
